Training

The firm is committed to a programme of consistent and continuous improvement in skill and legal knowledge of its Partners, Solicitors, Legal Executives and trainees.

We regularly conduct inhouse training, covering a wide area of topics that contribute to the continuing professional development of our staff. Recent seminars have dealt with the implications of developments in Road Traffic Law, gangland crime, prisoner law, and many other areas of law.

In addition, the firm encourages staff to seek out and attend external seminars, workshops and lectures on relevant topics.

Various of the Partners have for many years lectured and tutored extensively for the Law Society and other major providers of Continuing Professional Development courses. In recent times, the firm has co-presented, with the UK Forensic Science firm, Keith Borer Consultants, a conference on current aspects of Forensic Science in contemporary criminal litigation, the first time such a joint venture of its kind in Ireland. In late 2009, the firm co-hosted, with the Irish Centre for European Law, a conference on developments in European Convention Law as applying in Ireland. In early 2010, the firm co-wrote, and co-published, with the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, the "Know your rights" Handbook, acclaimed for simple, clear and concise advice.

The Partners are presently designing a programme of seminars to be presented to firms of Accountants, Solicitors and other interested professionals, relating to the implications for their practices of requirements being imposed, more stringently all the time, by the State, in respect of suspect financial transactions by their clients.
